To fill both hunger and heart

[MHN Seoul] When people head home, that's when my day begins. The diner cooks what you want, so order whatever you like. Business hours are from midnight to around 7 a.m. People call my place "the Midnight Diner."

For last 9 years, 'Midnight Diner' based on a best-selling manga has released 4 drama series and first movie in 2015 and became widely popular. The second movie 'Midnight Diner 2'(Zoku Shinya Shokudo) released in 2016 is hitting the theaters in Korea on the 8th of June. The film 'Midnight Diner 2' is about a little but special restaurant that opens late at night to comfort you hard workers. The actors of the original series joined, Kaoru Kobayashi as 'Master', the owner of the restaurant, Midnight Diner, Joe Odagiri as a generous police officer, 'Katagiri' keeping the backstreet in Tokyo safe, and Mansaku Fuwa as a regular customer 'Tadashi'.

When the day is done, people sometimes don't want to head home immediately and wanna stop by somewhere to talk with someone and be comforted. Midnight Diner opens from midnight to 7 in the morning for those who need and the owner, Master fill in the element missing from their lives by listening and cooking. Including ordinary workers, striper, sexual minorities, etc, so many different kinds of people visit the restaurant regularly. The film 'Midnight Diner' is composed of 3 episodes.

The first one is Noriko Akatsuka (Aoba Kawai), literary editor, whose self-administered prescription is wearing black, funeral attire and pampering herself with fried pork strip. The second story is about the bitter-sweet relationship between a widow 'Seiko Takagi'(Midoriko Kimura) and her son 'Seita Takagi'(Sosuke Ikematsu) and their running family soba shop business. He invariably orders udon. Then the third story is about an old lady 'Yukiko Ogawa'(Misako Watanabe) from Kyushu getting in trouble by voice phishing and waiting for the estranged. She orders the only official menu in Midnight Diner, pork chop in soup.

The little restaurant, Midnight Diner located in a small alley offers calm and tranquil space for diners to enjoy their food in such a busy and lively city, Shinjuku, Tokyo. While the movie is calm and lyrical, the cooking scenes with the sound delight five senses and make the audiences want to leave for food trip. If you are looking to find a movie to warm your hearts from being beaten in everyday life, Midnight Diner 2 is highly recommended.
