[MUNHWANEWS English] As bright pink cherry blossoms come into bloom, one begins to feel energy of spring.

It is easy to find cherry blossom trees in cities all over Korea. Lately, cherry blossom-themed events are at their peak. Festivals are in full swing in places like Jinhae's Gunhang, Gyeongju's Bomun Lake, Jeju Island, Daegu's E-world, Yeouido, and Seokchon Lake. The cherry blossom is officially the beloved queen of spring. 

It comes as no surprise then that products with cherry blossom designs are very popular among young people lately.

As cherry blossoms bloom, so do desserts.

This time of year, food containing actual cherry blossoms or bearing cherry blossom motifs are attracting lots of female customers. Among the various flower-themed festivals in Korea, the Jinhae Gunhang Festival has a well-known regional specialty: cherry blossom-shaped bread. The filling, which contains actual pink cherry blossoms, is their secret recipe. The manufacturers have a delivery service which can ship their products nationwide. However, because about 40 thousand pieces are sold each day during the festival in early April, they can't fill separate orders.

There are many other desserts that are cherry blossom-themed.

The famous ones are cherry blossom meringue cookies, macarons, lattes, and cakes. The cakes are especially popular and tend to get sold out as soon as they're made.
