Before 'Korea' dynasty was united, the young king WangGun who came to conquer the Naju land encountered the love of his life who handed him a scoop ful of water with a willow-tree leaf. After WangGun became the king of the 'Korea' dynasty Naju city was called as the 'King's City' outsourcing over 300 governor officers until the 'Chosun' Dynasty. 'Naju Moksa Naea' is where these governor officers resided. 

From all the government offices this is one of the few that are left from the once-flourishing city of Naju. It's a precious site that's been reconstructed in 2009 with Hanok stay housings from the ashes of Japanese colonization. 

This building situated at Gumgye-dong of Naju is named 'Gum Hak Hun' which means 'a household filled with the gentleness of a scholar who aims to live as graceful as a crane, listening to Gum-eungo(Korean Traditional Harp)'

Inside of Naju Moksa Naea is six rooms visitors can sleep and rest. The two biggest rooms were named after Naju's first reverend and best town officer, Kim Sung Il. 

The walls are covered with Hanji(Korean traditional paper) and on the floor is tidied up with feathered mats. The dirt covered yard also has Korean traditional games to enjoy an entertaining afternoon as well. 

The U-shaped roofs called 'PalJak' and the 500-year-old Peng tree fills the front yard with jars and sanded walls, giving a picturesque scene.

The open flat space of the house called 'Dae-Chung Maru' is the best place to enjoy summer thanks to the windows that open facing each other. Looking up the ceiling, the house is as close to nature as it is. 

Around Naju Moksa is the Seosung Gate, Jungsu Streets, and Naju Hyang Bridge all great cultural assets of Naju palace. The Dullaegil around Naju Moksa Naea is also a great place to take a stroll. 

If you want to have a relaxing time enjoying the charms of Hanok, we suggest you visit. If 'peace' and some 'alone-time' are needed, visit 'Naju Moksa Naea'.
