[MUNHWANEWS English] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and regional governments, libraries and schools accommodate 6,500 reading culture festivals only in September all around the country.

The ministry is planning to organize various kinds of reading culture festivals.

Firstly, “2014 Korea Reading Fair” will be held in Gunpo city from the 26th to 28th of September.
It is one of the biggest festivals in Korea which is supported by the Government, public institutions, regional governments, publishing companies, educational institutions, scholars, citizen groups and readers groups, authors and artists.

Festivals such as the Book Fairs, “Korean novels 1575”, “Asia’s 100 stories”, “20th reading culture awards”, “library and genre literature symposium” and other book concerts are also coming up.
Moreover, “The liberal arts reading academy” is going to be held in each main regional cities. The academy consists of a variety of public lectures including literature, history and philosophy in consideration of the regional cultures. “Liberal arts on the road” program is going to be held in public libraries across the nation 323 times which will provide public lectures on literature, history and philosophy.

Also, military libraries are organizing 70 reading programs for improving military culture and communication.

The national central library organizes “Book readers’ cultural volunteers” and “the 4th book fairs for disabled people”

The ministry representative mentioned that these festivals are intended to strengthen the connection among all regional institutions and organizations
